UWG Celebrates Georgia Arbor Day 2020
The University of West Georgia (UWG) Student Ambassadors and volunteers assisted UWG staff in planting various fruit trees and shrubs around UWG Community Garden. Joined by the Georgia Forestry Commission, the students celebrated Georgia Arbor Day 2020 (February 10) with a service workday and enjoyed the sunny skies and crisp weather.
- The UWG Community Garden was created through partnerships with many local organizations under the Tanner Health System’s “Get Healthy, Live Well” initiative. The project was funded through a community transformation grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

- The Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) is a state agency responsible for providing leadership, service, and education in the protection and conservation of Georgia’s forest resources. Every year, the GFC provides Keep Carroll Beautiful and other local organizations with tree saplings – this year we are partnering with the City of Carrollton Parks and Facilities Department to pot 250 oaks and dogwoods that will be planted in the community over the next few years.
